Read on for two of our recommended boutique style hotels here in Devon, and take a look at some beautiful images from styled shoots at these venues.

Kentisbury Grange

Intimate wedding venues devon 5

Kentisbury Grange boutique style hotel is a beautifully restored Victorian manor house located in its own landscaped grounds on the edge of stunning Exmoor National Park  near Barnstaple in North Devon. With its breathtaking views across the rolling countryside and close proximity to the wild and rugged North Devon coastline, it oozes quintessential English charm, and is a chic retreat that’s perfect for an intimate wedding celebration.
There are two amazing spaces for your ceremony, each with their own style and character: the Hotel Lounge with wooden floors and walls, deep sofas, antique art work and handmade furniture; and the comfortable Restaurant Mezzanine with elegant fabrics and oak furniture. We can also arrange a vintage style marquee outside in the landscaped gardens, surrounded by breathtaking views.
Our styled photo shoot embraces modern vintage elegance reflecting both the setting and style of the venue.

Kentisbury styled shoot: modern vintage
This clean and modern take on a vintage vibe used a flood of purples and greens to echo the colours in this stunning boutique hotel. Many couples are opting for a closer group of family and friends to mark their special day without the huge numbers of guests that some weddings can have, and this was the inspiration for this classically played out shoot at Kentisbury Grange – please see the images below.

Our bride wears a close fitting ankle length strapless dress from Caroline Fricker Coture. She prepares in luxury with a hint of lilac around the eye and hair in a stylish side do by Lucy Milton, and finished with a headdress supplied by The Wedding Collection, giving a timeless look  with just enough sparkle on show.

Our groom wears a formal suit from Samuel Dawes & Co; he’s found in the bar rehearsing his lines over a shot of whiskey with his groomsmen.

Intimate weddings can be held at a steady pace at Kentisbury Grange, with time for a cream tea with vintage china and walks in the stunning grounds. The first dance is an intimate affair with a pianist and cocktails to welcome guests to the evening’s celebrations and dinner in the surroundings of the restaurant with candlelight and blooms that continue the theme of the bride’s bouquet by Goodenough Florist. The cake by Juicy Lucy Cupcakes completes the simple informal proceedings.

Glazebrook House
With picturesque views, beautifully maintained gardens and a wonderfully secluded setting, Glazebrook House (images below) near South Brent has long been popular as an intimate, exclusive-use wedding venue. Its charming gardens are the perfect backdrop for photos, while the open plan ground floor rooms are flexible enough to accommodate separate areas for drinks and canapés, entertainment and dancing.

Glazebrook styled shoot: Alice in Wonderland
From the moment you step into Glazebrook House you get the feeling that you have indeed stepped into another world – a Wonderland! The subtle theme of Alice through the looking glass is a discovery explored through the adventurous and boutique décor.

Glazebrook holds a whimsical collection that intrigues and inspires you from room to room.

Our shoot was a reflection of the deep grey walls, sparkles and gilded palette of our surroundings. We included a nod to Alice in Wonderland using our own handmade tiny mirrors as place cards, and ‘Drink me’ bottles displayed on looking glasses.

We achieved our groom’s timeless Lewis Carrol look with decadent and rich velvets and tartan from Evolution Clothing, which gave him a look that was bought bang up to date. Our ‘Alice’ was in a stunning gown from Pirouette that glittered in the light of the sumptuous chandeliers and echoed the blush colours found in the stunning tea tray wall in the dining room. Her hair by Steven & Laurent was a strong and powerful take on a vintage look, and makeup by Claire Bowring gave our bride the equally empowered look of a modern girl in a timeless world. The grey and blush theme was continued with Edible Essence cakes sitting perfectly within the scheme with a glimmer of gold against the moody grey base. The look was all bought together with voluptuous flower displays by Phillip Taylor Corps. Glazebrook offered us the opportunity to shoot in truly inspiring and exciting surroundings – this venue is a wonderland for any couple to explore for their special day!
